Interim Strategic Growth and Planning Director

The role

The role:

  • Develop strategic expansion opportunities for the organisation in conjunction with the CEO and senior leadership team
  • Working with the CEO and VP lead, manage the development programme, working as a team internally to coordinate various aspects of the programme
  • Engage with Defence and Security ecosystem to understand and develop strategic opportunities for business growth, partnership and collaboration
  • Engage with other government organisations to understand challenges and opportunities around knowledge assets and create opportunities for business growth, partnership and collaboration
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders, adding value to foster engagement by offering relevant high-level expertise
  • Work to promote better value and increase impact from government owned knowledge assets

Skillset required:

Essential:

Project management – ability to coordinate and integrate multiple activities

Business development – an appreciation of developing and onboarding new clients

Relationship management – experience of working with government organisations, ability to liaise effectively at different levels within government organisations

Ability to work with innovation – an appreciation of technology transfer/commercialisation e.g. IP licensing, spin out company formation

Understanding of defence and security innovation landscape – challenges and opportunities, funding structures etc.

Understanding of government innovation landscape – challenges and opportunities, funding structures etc.

Commercial acumen – ability to appreciate the value proposition, align business models

Customer focus

Adaptable and determined to make a difference

Ability to work individually and as a team, with proactive approach – a self-starter used to remote working

Good communicator – able to deliver effective presentations, communicate the organisation’s value proposition etc

Passion for impact and making the world a better place through innovation reaching new markets

Desirable:

Science or technical background

Understanding of intellectual property and routes to protection

Consultancy experience
