Non-Executive Board Member

The role

As an Advisory NED, you’ll support the strategic direction of the NCC and provide independent oversight, guidance and challenge to the executive team. You’ll contribute to:

  • Strengthening relationships with stakeholders across industry, government, academia and policy
  • Supporting the organisation’s approach to risk within a complex operating environment
  • Shaping long-term priorities in line with national and regional industrial strategies
  • Extending NCC’s reach and impact across sectors and geographies

You will be appointed to the NCC Subsidiary Board. You may also be invited to join the *NCC–University of Bristol Innovation Steering Board which focusses on ramping up innovation and impact, subject to discussion during the appointment process.

We are particularly interested in candidates with:

  • Experience in engineering, manufacturing, applied R&D or industrial technology
  • A professional network that can help advance innovation and capability
  • A track record of leading transformation or technology adoption
  • Experience of working across sectors or public/private boundaries
  • Understanding of governance, accountability, and organisational risk
  • The ability to provide balanced support and challenge to the executive
  • A commitment to inclusive, long-term value creation
